This five day course gives you the opportunity to get as involved as you want, and teaches you all the skills you need to be a competent and confident crew member, from knot tying to using a winch.

The RYA Day Skipper practical course is designed to teach you to take control safely and confidently. Throughout this course you will learn vital skills including passage planning, engine maintenance, close quarters boat handling, safety drills and weather forecasting.

The Coastal Skipper course is designed to give you the confidence to undertake longer and more complex coastal passages which may involve sailing at night, watch keeping systems, or more challenging passages. It will also focus on improving your close quarters manoeuvring, giving you the confidence to be the skipper.

The training focuses on boat handling skills, navigation, night exercises and emergency drills that are essential for any Yachtmaster. The course prepares you for the Yachtmaster exam that will take place after the 5 day prep week. This is conducted by an external examiner appointed by the RYA.
