This intensive programme combines the full RYA Day Skipper Theory and RYA Day Skipper Practical (Sail) courses into one continuous block, making it perfect for busy sailors who want to learn efficiently and apply their knowledge immediately on the water.

Pre Requisits:

Basic sailing ability

5 days, 100 miles and 4 night hours onboard a sailing yacht

Navigation and theory knowledge to Day Skipper Shorebased level

Minimum age 16 (Must be accompanied by an adult if under 18)

Theory (Shorebased Module)

Chartwork, navigation, compass variation & deviation

Tides, tidal heights, and streams

Passage planning & pilotage

Collision regulations (COLREGs)

Weather and forecasting

Safety and emergency procedures

Buoyage, lights, and shapes
Practical

Sail handling, reefing, and trimming

Mooring, anchoring, and manoeuvring under power

Navigation and pilotage afloat

Passage planning and execution as skipper

Safety drills, including man overboard recovery

Skippering techniques, crew leadership & decision-making
